Harmony
Relationship Building

According to the survey from Clifton Strengths, Harmony was one of my strengths. In acquiring harmony within my peers, I move towards finding a middle ground where the values of others are heard and taken into consideration. Upon evaluation, when a new direction is presented where all parties are in agreeance, we work together to come up with a conclusion to tasks.

An example of this would be group projects, where group members had differences in opinions and various approaches to project completion. Having a leadership role in a group, I listen to the pros and cons of my members. Eventually, we are able to accumulatively think of an effective way to go forward with the project where it accounts for most of the members ideas and suggestions.

Developer
Relationship Building

Developers are people who are able to see the potential in others. Being a developer, I am able to bring out the best in people, and help them realize their strengths through support, encouragement, and challenges. Helping people see their strengths and watching them develop under my guidance motivates me even more. My strength comes from seeing others succeed.

An example of using my strength as a developer was shown during my time in the music program in my high school years. Because I had more years of experience playing the trumpet compared to the others within my section, during our sectionals practice, I would always help teach my classmates with proper posture, and their embouchure when playing the trumpet. Each year, I would always help my music teacher with the new trumpet players in grade 9 develop the basics to help them throughout the semester.

Consistency
Executing

Consistency is another strength of mine in which I have the need to treat everyone the same, no matter what the circumstances are. In some cases, some people may have an advantage due to factors like connections or financial status. However, I ensure that everyone gets a fair chance to showcase themselves. When there are rules and regulations to abide by, I ensure that everyone follows them.

During my third year in university, my coach from basketball reached out to me asking if I can come back to help assist in the basketball tryouts that were happening. With former teammates and myself who were called back, we were asked to look for individuals based on the criteria that was given to us by the coach. There were obvious signs that some people had experience, and were skilled compared to others, some who were average, and some who had potential even if they were not 'the best'. However, based on the criteria, numerous factor such as skills and grade were considered for each individual, and from there, a team was formed for the year.

Empathy
Relationship Building

Empathy is one of my strengths that I identify with the most. With this strength, I am able to sense and understand the feelings of people around me. I am able to understand others situations, place myself in their shoes, and listen to them whether they may be sad, happy or angry. In times where there is a disagreement between someone and myself, I am able to understand their side of the story even if I do not agree.

Using an example during group work in university, our group was having difficulty getting through to one person. Although this person did complete their assigned part, the work was not up to the groups standard. As we had in person get togethers, I noticed that this person looked disengaged, and confused at times. I later was able to talk to this individual, and they explained that they were caught up with lecture material, but did not understand it well enough to translate it to the group work. This individual also felt frustrated and guilty, as they though that they were letting the group down. I was able to share my experience when I felt the same. In short, I was able to uplift and encourage this individual back on track.

Context
Strategic Thinking

The last strength reported that I had from my Clifton Strengths Report was context. This strength allows me to understand what is happening in the present by looking back at what happens in the past. With this strength, I am able to understand many aspects because I aim to understand the foundations. Because of this foundational knowledge, it allows me to make better decisions and better choices confidently.

For example, if someone were to ask me if a supplement was good to take for a certain condition; before I would provide an answer, I look for the scientific articles and the research being done, and see if the experts behind the research are credible before I can give an answer.
When doing group work, I tend to ask people what are they are good at, what their weaknesses are. All the information that I gather helps me determine suggestions for each person, and what role they can do in group work.
